NEW STUDENS: It is recommended to email armorer@highplainsfencing.com well in advance of your first class so we can check gear sizes and availability

Register Early: We're thrilled to have more people learn and love fencing! This has resulted in a few classes being overcapacity. We recommend registering early or it may be too late. When the class is full, there will be no drop ins allowed by the front desk. We are continuing to work to expand our programs into Fort Collins, Loveland, and Evans as well. If you'd like to help grow the sport in your area reach out to us at businessoperations@highplainsfencing.com

Competition Classes

*Competition classes use tournament electric scoring machines

  • For Epee: You will need Epee body cord and electric Epee (any mask will be fine doesn't have to be Epee mask)
  • For Foil: You will need Foil body cord, electric Foil, Lame, Foil mask
  • For Saber: You will need Saber body cord, electric Saber, Saber Lame jacket, Saber mask, Saber glove (or gauntlet)

*Foil and Saber body cords are interchangeable

Don't have electric gear yet?

We want everyone to be able to participate fully in class. We sometimes have an extra cord or blade on hand. It's very rare we have any Lames. If you need some help figuring what gear to order and where to get it from email armorer@highplainsfencing.com or talk to Trevor during class.

When starting competition class fencers (and parent(s) for youth fencers) are encouraged to meet with our Armorer to discuss what gear is required for tournaments, where to buy, sizes and when available the opportunity to try out various types of grips and FIE vs Non FIE blades as well as recommendations for that particular fencers fighting style.

Open Fencing

Open fencing is a more casual time to get in extra practice. It is not a guided class.

  • You don't have to get there right at the start
  • We keep the room available for 1.5 hrs (11am-12:30 on Saturdays and 6:40pm to 8:10 Mondays)
  • There is always a coach on hand, take advantage and ask them about a 1:1 lesson!
  • Bring whatever your style is (Epee, Foil, Saber) and if there are no other fencers of that style then coach is happy to give you a good bout and some exercise
  • At least one strip will be setup for electric scoring
  • Have Fun! It's a more relaxed atmosphere and great time to chat with other fencers and maybe even try out that other weapon you've been curious about!
  • SAFETY FIRST Mask, Jacket, and Glove are ALWAYS REQUIRED!
